The OHS program, originally started in 2005 as a track within the well-known and successful MA in Medical Sciences program, is now its own M.S. program. The program, with nearly 180 graduates to date, has seen tremendous growth and success with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/ohs\/dental-school-acceptances\/\">80% of its graduates matriculating to US dental s<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/ohs\/dental-school-acceptances\/\">chools<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program has an extremely rigorous, graduate-level\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/ohs\/curriculum\/\">curriculum <\/a>that provides students with the opportunity to improve their academic preparedness for dental school admission.\u00a0 Through DMD and graduate level coursework, students improve their study and test taking skills as well as their ability to not just memorize facts but integrate concepts at a much higher level.\u00a0 Students have the opportunity to take three courses &#8211; Biochemistry, Physiology and Microbiology and Immunology or General Pathology (18 credits) &#8211; \u00a0with BU DMD I students.\u00a0 Additionally students are exposed to Oral Health Promotion, Pathology, Evidence Based Dentistry, Head and Neck Anatomy, and Infectious Diseases\u00a0through elective coursework.<\/p>\n<p>The M.S. program has flexibility allowing students to complete the program in 12 months by submitting a Capstone project whereas those students using the full 2 years \u00a0have the opportunity to complete a research-based thesis on a topic of their choice in the field of dentistry. \u00a0 Faculty from both the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">School of \u00a0Medicine<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/dental\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dental Medicine<\/a> serve as teachers and mentors enriching their educational experience while in GMS.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, Boston is a great place to study. \u00a0Boston University Medical Campus is located in Boston\u2019s historic and multicultural South End. \u00a0 Boston, our \u201cwalkable\u201d city, \u00a0is known for great science, academics, sports, the arts as well as music, restaurants\u00a0and\u00a0nightlife. \u00a0Discovering\u00a0Boston\u00a0 and\u00a0all it has to off is another exciting part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/ohs\/admissions\/ten-reasons-to-come-to-gms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> being a student in GMS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to contact me, join me for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/ohs\/admissions\/webinars\/\">Webinar<\/a> or arrange a visit, to learn more about the M.S. in Oral Health Sciences program.<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<a href=\"\/gms\/files\/2010\/06\/OHS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/gms\/files\/2010\/06\/OHS-613x636.jpg\" alt=\"OralHealthSci\" class=\" wp-image-32706 alignright\" height=\"144\" width=\"139\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Theresa A.
