This activity is designed to be student driven and students pick the papers to be discussed, decide on the order of presentation and engage in a discussion on recent research. A faculty mentor is present to assist but stays behind the scenes.<b> <\/b>Students are encouraged to discuss papers that are pertinent to up-coming faculty seminars thus enabling them to participate in the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The journal club is an instructional strategy for development of analytical skills needed for interdisciplinary research. Using small group self-directed learning strategies, students engaged in opportunities where they continually generate hypothesis, grapple with alternative explanations based on the evidence, and analyze primary sources, and consider multiple disciplinary perspectives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Journal clubs are held on a biweekly basis.
