The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/mscr\/curriculum\/dual-degree-options\/md-msci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dual degree program<\/a>\u00a0was designed\u00a0for those students who are interested in pursuing careers in the areas of medicine and clinical research in either an academic environment or pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry setting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The program is designed as a five-year full-time experience, although accommodations can be made for students who need more time to complete the dual degree.<\/li>\n<li>Senior faculty with clinical and research expertise will both instruct and mentor students throughout the program.<\/li>\n<li>The required Capstone research project is designed to allow the student to demonstrate research skills.<\/li>\n<li>Students will also develop fine-tuned clinical research skills as they complete 240 hours of a clinical research practicum in either an academic institution or in industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/mscr\/curriculum\/dual-degree-options\/md-msci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn more about the dual MD and MS in Clinical Research.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Master of Science\u00a0in Medical Sciences and\u00a0Master of Science\u00a0in Clinical Research<\/h4>\n<p>Boston University School of Medicine&#8217;s\u00a0MS\u00a0in Medical Sciences and MS\u00a0in Clinical Research Programs are two of its\u00a0most successful programs offered through\u00a0the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences. \u00a0This dual degree program was created due to a review of curricula, student interests and goals, emerging careers for professionals with a background in the medical sciences and clinical research.<\/p>\n<p>A number of the students in the Medical Sciences Program who take the Clinical Research electives in that concentration do so to gain a clinical research background prior to attending medical school.
