Dr. Janice Weinberg is the Director of the Master of Science in Clinical Research and a Professor of Biostatistics at the Boston University School of Public Health. She has extensive experience in the design, conduct and analysis of intervention trials and in serving as the biostatistician on clinical research projects.\u00a0 She has taught graduate level courses on clinical trials, correlated data analysis and statistical programming for many years. In addition, Dr. Weinberg reviewed a wide range of research as the statistical reviewer for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for over a decade and has been the biostatistician member of many data safety monitoring boards for both industry and academia.\u00a0 She is currently a statistical consultant for the Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and the lead statistical editor for the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA).<\/p>\n

Stacey is the Assistant Director of the MS in Clinical Research program at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, and the Director of the Graduate Certificate Programs in Clinical Research at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.<\/p>\n

Stacey began her career as an exercise physiologist working in both the fitness and the clinical arenas.\u00a0 After a number of years, she obtained her graduate degree in research and worked in a variety of clinical research facilities in Massachusetts and in Florida.<\/p>\n

In 2000 Stacey\u00a0 started working at the medical campus at Boston University performing research in the department of cardiology.\u00a0 She then moved to a position at BUMC\u2019s Institutional Review Board, where she worked for 6+ years as a Senior IRB Analyst II.\u00a0 After her involvement at the IRB, Stacey moved over to the School of Medicine where she is now involved in the academic side of research.<\/p>\n

Susan S. Fish, Pharm.D<\/h4>

\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Professor, Departments of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Boston University, School of Public Health<\/p>\n

Dr. Fish has a long history of research in the areas of clinical toxicology and emergency medicine. She has most recently focused on research ethics in general, and application of the federal regulations for waiver of informed consent in certain emergency research circumstances. Issues relating to the design of clinical research and ethical implications of study designs are Dr. Fish\u2019s areas of expertise.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

She is the former director of the IRB for the Boston University Medical Campus and Boston Medical Center. She is currently a member of faculty of Fordham University\u2019s HIV and Drug Abuse Prevention Research Ethics Training Institute. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Amy Aulwes, JD, MPH<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>

\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Amy has over 17 years of experience providing clinical and regulatory affairs consulting to industry sponsors and academic institutions.\u00a0 She specializes in regulatory strategy, product submissions and clinical study compliance.\u00a0 She has worked extensively with medical device, in vitro diagnostic and pharmaceutical companies on FDA submissions and management of clinical studies.\u00a0 Amy previously served as Vice President at Health Policy Associates Inc. and for the past two years has been an independent consultant.\u00a0 Amy received her JD from Tulane University in 1991 and her MPH (with concentrations in Health Law and Health Services) from Boston University in 1994.<\/p>\n

\"\"Tom Travison is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Senior Scientist at the Marcus Institute for Aging Research, Hebrew SeniorLife, where he directs the Biostatistics and Data Science center and is co-director of the center for Interventional Studies. His collaborative work is focused on multimodal interventions for the prevention and amelioration of syndromes of aging. His laboratory also focuses on the development and dissemination of software tools for reproducible biomedical research.<\/p>\n

<\/em>Victoria Lattanzi, MS<\/h4>
<\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span>
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"Victoria Lattanzi is a graduate of Brown University with a BS in Biology and Boston University School of Medicine with an MS in Clinical Investigation. Victoria started her research career as a bench scientist working in various academic laboratories throughout Boston, MA and developed extensive in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical technical skills. She is published in the fields of hematology\/oncology, regenerative biology and biochemistry.<\/p>\n

In 2010 she made the transition to clinical research and has gained extensive clinical trial experience in an academic setting. As a Clinical Research Associate within the Boston University Amyloidosis Center, Victoria was responsible for the management of the Center\u2019s clinical trials. Her responsibilities included coordination of study start-up activities, regulatory submissions, subject recruitment, coordination of study visits and data collection. In 2016, she moved from site level clinical research to the industry side as she joined Halloran Consulting Group as a consultant within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical practice area. In this role, she worked as part of project teams to provide clinical operational support to clients in the life sciences industry. Currently, Victoria is working as a Clinical Trial Manager at BlueRock Therapeutics, an engineered cell therapy company headquartered in Cambridge, MA.<\/p>\n

<\/em>Carrie Melvin<\/h4>
<\/p>\n

\"\"Carrie Melvin began teaching the Introduction to Clinical Trial Management course here at BU in the Spring of 2023.\u00a0She has extensive experience<\/span>\u00a0 in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology space, having worked in the drug development industry for over 24 years. She began her career at Pfizer, Inc in Groton, CT as a Clinical Research Manager and continued to advance her career during her 8.5 years at the company. After her time with Pfizer, she moved to the Boston area with her husband of 27+ years and her two amazing children.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Most of Carrie’s career has been in Global Clinical Development and Operations, primarily in Oncology, with a few years in rare and ultra rare diseases. She has had success taking on roles with increased responsibilities across several companies, including Millennium\/Takeda, Kura Oncology, TESARO\/GSK and Viridian Therapeutics. Her most recent role is SVP, Global Clinical Operations and Medical Writing at Menarini-Stemline.<\/span><\/div>\n

In her spare time, Carrie enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She stays active with running, cycling, hiking, golfing, and weight training. She also enjoys reading in her down time.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
