GMS places a very high priority on maintaining a work environment for staff, trainees, and faculty characterized by generosity, integrity, constructive interactions, mentoring, and respect for diversity and differences among members of our community. All faculty, staff and students are also expected to model the behavioral attributes of responsibility, empathy, service excellence, problem solving and continuous improvement, efficiency, cultural humility and teamwork. Students are expected to embody these characteristics in the pursuit of continuous personal and professional growth and aspire to sustain the highest level of ethical and moral standards and academic excellence. These standards are exemplified in the <span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/academics\/policies-procedures-handbook\/student-code-of-conduct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">GMS Student Code of Conduct<\/a> <\/span>and the <span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/files\/2010\/05\/GMS-Academic-Conduct-Code-and-Disciplinary-Procedures-08_10_15-amended-5-21-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Academic Conduct Code &amp; Procedures<\/a><\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The school places a high priority on the appropriate treatment of its community and affiliated members and provides a mechanism for both open and confidential resolution of complaints from students, postdoctoral fellows, staff and faculty by conducting thorough, prompt and impartial investigation.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Appropriate Treatment in Graduate Education<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>To ensure a supportive learning environment for its <strong><em>masters, PhD and post-doctoral trainees, <\/em><\/strong>Graduate Medical Sciences established the Appropriate Treatment in Graduate Education Policy. GMS students may view the form, learn how complaints are reviewed and processed and submit the ATGE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/about\/atge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">online form here<\/span><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gms\/academics\/policies-procedures-handbook\/appropriate-treatment-in-graduate-education-form\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">.<\/span><\/a> Complaints of mistreatment can be submitted <em>named <\/em>or be made <em>anonymously<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Appropriate Treatment in Medical Education<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span>To ensure a supportive learning environment for its\u00a0<\/span><strong><em>medical students<\/em><\/strong><span>, the the medical school established the Appropriate Treatment in Medicine committee and reporting form. Medical students should report unprofessional or inappropriate behavior using the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/about\/reporting-unprofessional-behavior\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Appropriate Treatment in Medical Education Reporting Form<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Boston University Ombuds<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span>The\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ombuds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Office of the Ombud<\/span>s<\/a><span> is an independent, impartial, informal problem-solving resource serving BU faculty, staff, and students on both Campuses. The office maintains strict confidentiality and provides a safe place for off-the-record conversations on issues related to life, work or study at Boston University.
