ID CONSULT p8902<\/u><\/p>\n

– Inpatient consults for COVID and non-COVID patients<\/p>\n

– This includes questions about any ICU or newly unstable COVID patient and other patients followed by ID<\/p>\n

COVID pager<\/u>\u00a0<\/span>– p5236 (reactivated in December 2020)<\/p>\n

– Whether to test an inpatient & accordingly isolate\/transfer<\/p>\n

– Initial workup and management of COVID patients (they may suggest a full ID consult which they will facilitate)<\/p>\n

\u2013 Whether it\u2019s safe to remove isolation if diagnosis is uncertain (this will get sent to the 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>team attending)<\/p>\n

– Clinical questions re disease presentation<\/p>\n

– Where testing is done<\/p>\n

– How to do the test (swab)<\/p>\n

– Where the sample will be sent and estimated turnaround time<\/p>\n

– all other COVID calls not covered above, including questions on COVID-positive or -suspect inpatients not being actively followed by ID consult service<\/p>\n

Dear All<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>ID group has reorganized their structure to better serve the many questions that arise in the management of Covid 19 patients. They have established a third team that for now will monitor COVID<\/span>-positive or\u00a0<\/span>suspects and help determine\u00a0<\/span>candidates for early biologic therapy.\u00a0This team will also review patients with negative Covid testing who\u00a0<\/span>can be removed from isolation depending on clinical suspicion.<\/span><\/p>\n

This team will proactively review these patients but if questions arise that have not been addressed, please page the Covid pager #5236 and the consult or questions will be referred on to this new third team as appropriate.<\/span><\/p>\n
