{"id":3816,"date":"2026-03-31T14:36:02","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T18:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gim\/?p=3816"},"modified":"2026-03-31T14:40:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T18:40:15","slug":"gim-faculty-win-massachusetts-medical-society-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gim\/2026\/03\/31\/gim-faculty-win-massachusetts-medical-society-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"GIM Faculty Win Massachusetts Medical Society Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two faculty members in the Section of General Internal Medicine have been recognized by the Massachusetts Medical Society for outstanding contributions to the health and well-being of patients in the state, across the country, and around the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/gim\/files\/2026\/03\/Rob-Marlin-e1774981851637.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"281\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3830 \" \/>Robert Marlin, MD, PhD, MPH &#8212; an Assistant Professor of Medicine and primary care physician specializing in immigrant and refugee health &#8212; has been awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massmed.org\/awards\/#bowditch\">2026 Henry Ingersoll Bowditch Award for Excellence in Public Health<\/a>.\u00a0 This award, which was established in 1996, is presented annually to a Massachusetts physician who has demonstrated outstanding initiative, creativity, and leadership in the field of public health outreach and advocacy. Dr. Marlin is the Director of Policy for the BMC Immigrant and Refugee Health Center. He has demonstrated outstanding leadership in public health education and advocacy, especially related to immigrant and refugee health outcomes in medically underserved communities. He trains physicians in public health through the Immigrant and Refugee Preventive Medicine Residency, and his research focuses on the impact of immigration policies on health and the ethical responsibilities of clinicians.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/gim\/files\/2026\/02\/Amy-Fitzpatrick.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"235\" height=\"235\" class=\" wp-image-3769 alignleft\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gim\/files\/2026\/02\/Amy-Fitzpatrick.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gim\/files\/2026\/02\/Amy-Fitzpatrick-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/gim\/files\/2026\/02\/Amy-Fitzpatrick-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 235px) 100vw, 235px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Amy Fitzpatrick, MD &#8212; an Assistant Professor of Medicine and a primary care physician specializing in women&#8217;s health, breast health, and addiction &#8212; has been awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massmed.org\/awards\/#womenshealth\">2026 Women&#8217;s Health Award.<\/a> This award recognizes a physician for outstanding contributions advancing Women\u2019s Health in Massachusetts. Candidates are nominated by their peers and selected by the Committee on Women\u2019s Health. In addition to providing clinical leadership in the Women\u2019s Health Group and Belkin Breast Health Center at BMC, Dr. Fitzpatrick has significantly shaped women\u2019s health across Massachusetts through her expertise in caring for women with addiction and complex care needs. She is the Medical Director of Bedrock Recovery Center, which serves people in the Greater Boston area and beyond by supporting them in recovering from substance use disorders.
