Alysse Wurcel, an Associate Professor of Medicine and a clinician investigator in the Section of General Internal Medicine, has been selected by the Infectious Diseases Society of America as a Health Equity Champion Honoree<\/a>. Dr. Wurcel is a nationally recognized clinician investigator with over 20 years of expertise in infectious diseases and experience working with people with HIV, people who are incarcerated, and people who use drugs.<\/p>\n

Dr. Wurcel\u2019s research portfolio is characterized by a commitment to health equity, development of systems-based strategies to improve healthcare, and engagement of a broad array of stakeholders. She is Multiple Principal Investigator on two National Institutes of Health R-level grants: a research project to improve equitable access to penicillin allergy de-labeling and an exploratory\/development grant to improve systems of infectious diseases care in Suffolk County jails. She has published over 115 peer-reviewed manuscripts advancing the science of health services research.<\/p>\n
