In addition to practicing primary care in our Women\u2019s Health Group, Dr. Bachorik serves as the Course Director for GIM\u2019s Grand Rounds series and the Program Director for the Primary Care Training Program within the internal medicine residency. In her time with GIM, Dr. Bachorik has held multiple educational roles, including Director of Education for the Women\u2019s Health Unit, Director of the GIM Medical Education Fellowship, and a member of the Academy of Medical Educators at the Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Arriving to BMC after completing a medical education fellowship, Dr. Bachorik was drawn to work around women\u2019s health and reproductive health across the education spectrum. She explored teaching in clinical and didactic spaces as an educator for doctoring courses and an advisor to medical students from years 1-4. She designed a women\u2019s health curriculum for the internal medicine residency and led Grand Rounds. After exploring a wide range of teaching activities, Dr. Bachorik has found her home in the Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education spaces, reflected by her current leadership roles in Grand Rounds and the residency office.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding her clinical expertise, Dr. Bachorik started at Boston Medical Center in the Belkin Breast Health Center and the Women\u2019s Health Group, as well as supervising residents in the Crosstown Primary Care Clinic. As her educational roles expand, Dr. Bachorik has focused on providing direct clinical care in the Women\u2019s Health Group. She strives to integrate elements of work from her time in the Belkin Breast Health Center, including evaluation of common breast concerns and identification and risk stratification of individuals at increased risk of breast cancer. She provides consults in common women\u2019s health concerns and performs Long-Acting Reversible Contraception placement and removal procedures in her primary care practice.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dr. Bachorik received her MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed an internal medicine residency program at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital (BWH) in the DGIM Primary Care track. She then completed a medical education fellowship at BWH, earning a Master of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alex Bachorik, MD joined the Section of General Internal Medicine in 2019.
