Electives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>The School of Medicine has a few established affiliations that are considered &#8220;inside electives.&#8221; Students must be conversant with the language spoken in the host country unless there is a provision for interpreters or the elective is dedicated to language acquisition. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/ghbusm\/setupelective\/\">How to Set Up a Fourth-Year GH Elective<\/a>\u00a0to add your elective to your fourth-year schedule once you have decided upon the location.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The following countries sponsor BU medical students students for inside electives. Faculty approval for each elective may be different.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfhi.org\/\">Child Family Health International<\/a> (any electives sponsored by this organization are eligible)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/ghbusm\/inside_electives\/israel-elective\/\">Israel <\/a>(currently not being offered due to conflict in region)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/familymed\/medical-student-ed\/fourth-year-electives\/\">Lesotho<\/a> (this elective is based in the Family Medicine Dept at BMC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Inside Medical Spanish Electives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are several medical programs that qualify as inside electives because of known faculty connections and successful track records.
