Renzo Mogollon, MD<\/strong>

Hello! I was born and raised in Peru\u2014an exquisite culinary destination and a place I am proud to call home. I completed medical school at the Universidad de San Mart\u00edn de Porres in Lima and practiced medicine for nearly five years before moving to the U.S. in 2021. Since then, my journey has taken me across the country. I started in research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and, from there, I headed west to Reno, NV, where I completed my IM Residency at the University of Nevada, Reno.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Now in Boston\u2014after an unforgettable cross-country road trip from NV to MA (highly recommended if you love the open road and nature!)\u2014I\u2019m thrilled to be part of the BU Geriatrics Fellowship. It is a city I deeply cherish, and I\u2019m eager to learn and grow within this vibrant academic community; more so from our leadership team, who is extremely passionate, caring, and clearly incredible mentors to train under. My passion for Geriatrics lies in its intersection with Oncology, a field I also intend to pursue. I believe that a comprehensive, patient-centered approach is essential for making thoughtful recommendations and fostering shared decision-making discussions. Applying this to Oncology can further enhance the care that we provide to this patient population, being mindful that there is much more apart from the illness itself.<\/div>\n

Outside of medicine, I stay active through sports like soccer, tennis, jogging, and table tennis. I also enjoy writing, cooking, hiking, building LEGO sets (so far an X-wing and R2-D2!), and watching movies.<\/div>\n

I grew up outside Boston, and I’ve always been excited about primary care, forming longitudinal relationships and helping patients balance a range of medical needs and personal priorities. After helping establish a multi-disciplinary Geriatrics interest group at Penn in medical school, I completed the primary care track at Brigham and Women’s, and I’m thrilled to be joining BMC’s Geriatrics community. I’m excited to provide healthcare in multiple settings, from clinic to nursing facilities to patients’ own homes. Outside medicine, I enjoy jogging, hiking, audiobooks, and crossword puzzles.<\/span><\/div>\n

I was born and raised in New Hampshire and attended Brown University for medical school. While in Providence, I developed a passion for geriatrics and healthcare for the population experiencing homelessness. I\u00a0attended internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and am thrilled to be joining the BMC geriatric medicine family for fellowship! This upcoming year, I’m looking forward to developing a strong foundation in general geriatric care in addition to building upon my interest in providing comprehensive primary care for older adults experiencing homelessness. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy playing with my niece and nephew, hiking in the White Mountains and exploring Boston with my new puppy, Clove.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Natalie Perez-Mendez, MD

Hi! I am from Boynton Beach, Florida, went to undergrad at Florida International University, earned my medical degree from Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland, and went back home for residency at Florida Atlantic University. Growing up and training in South Florida allowed me the opportunity to care for many older adults, which is where my passion for geriatric medicine stems from. I hope to be an oncologist with a particular focus on providing exceptional cancer care to older adults. Outside of medicine I enjoy cycling, watching basketball, and exploring Boston\/New England!<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>I was born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. Due to my father\u2019s profession, I had the opportunity to explore both the west and east coasts of India during my childhood, eventually settling in the beautiful coastal city of Visakhapatnam. I attended Andhra Medical College and had the luxury of staying with my parents throughout my studies before moving to the US for residency.<\/p>\n

I completed my residency at St. Elizabeth’s in Brighton and quickly fell in love with Boston, deciding to stay for my fellowship. One aspect that continues to amaze me about BMC is the enthusiasm and dedication of the faculty. This was evident during my interview and has become even more apparent now that I am part of the team. As both an academic and safety-net hospital, BMC provides a perfect blend of educational resources and diverse clinical exposure.<\/p>\n

The high retention rate of fellows staying on as attendings speaks volumes about the supportive environment at BMC, which fosters the growth and development of its fellows. The combined geriatrics and hematology-oncology programs offer a unique and comprehensive training experience. Hearing great things about the program from seniors who trained here made my decision to join BMC an easy one.<\/p>\n

I am incredibly grateful and excited to be part of this institution, surrounded by some of the most curious and empathetic individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing. I look forward to contributing to and learning from this exceptional community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas George, MBBS<\/strong>

I was born and raised in the Middle East, and Dubai is home. I completed medical school at Father Muller Medical College in India. While researching for observerships and research opportunities, my mentors introduced me to geriatric oncology, which was just budding in India then. I was fortunate to work with Geriatric Oncologists during my rotations in the US in 2019 which further sparked my interest in pursuing it as a career. I completed my residency training and a PGY-3 chief year at South Brooklyn Health in Brooklyn. Training at a city hospital, I dealt with patients of various nationalities and socioeconomic backgrounds, particularly society’s marginalized sections, which was rewarding and enhanced my clinical acumen. Boston University has a similar patient profile, given that it is the largest safety net hospital in the New England area, furthermore, since it is an academic program, the fellows have the opportunity to train under experts in the field. On my interview day, I was impressed by the warm, welcoming and genuinely kind faculty members who truly cared about the fellows’ success. The program leadership ensured that the program would fit with my career goals and provided incredible mentorship early on at the start of the fellowship. It’s not a surprise that many graduated fellows have stayed on to join as faculty at Boston University. I am truly blessed to have matched at this program which will train me in Geriatrics, Hematology and Oncology, which is exactly the career pathway I have in mind and look forward to the next four years here! In my free time, I enjoy playing racquet sports and hope to return to the badminton court soon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
