Oversight of advisory committees, financial management, and fostering collaborative AD research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/research\/programs-and-cores\/clinical-core\/\"><strong>Clinical Core:<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Leader:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/rhoda-au-phd\/\">Dr. Rhoda Au<\/a>, <em>Co-leader:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/jesse-mez-md-ms\/\">Dr. Jesse Mez<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Function:<\/em> Conduct neuropsychological, neurological, and brain MRI examinations. Adjudicate dementia diagnoses. Administer the FHS brain donation program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/research\/programs-and-cores\/neuropathology-core\/\"><strong>Neuropathology Core:<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Leader:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/ann-mckee-md\/\">Dr. Ann McKee<\/a>, <em>Co-leader:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/thor-stein-md-phd\/\">Dr. Thor Stein<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Function:<\/em> Characterize brain tissue from the FHS brain donation program. Perform comprehensive digital quantification of amyloid and tau pathology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/research\/programs-and-cores\/data-core\/\"><strong>Data Core:<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Leader:<\/em> Dr. Joseph Massaro, <em>Co-leader:<\/em> Dr. Chunyu Liu<\/li>\n<li><em>Function:<\/em> Archive, quality check, and harmonize data from Clinical and Neuropathology cores. Manage data sharing with projects, centralized databases, NIH repositories, and external investigators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Research Projects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Project 1: Trajectories of Cognitive Decline and Mid-life Vascular Traits<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Leaders:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/lindsay-farrer-phd\/\">Dr. Lindsay Farrer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/jesse-mez-md-ms\/\">Dr. Jesse Mez<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Aims:<\/em> Identify factors associated with cognitive decline, neurodegeneration, and resilience. Explore mid-life vascular and inflammatory traits associated with AD risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project 2: Linking AD Genetic Vulnerabilities and Chronic Peripheral Inflammation<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Leaders:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/wendy-qiu-md-phd\/\">Dr. Wendy Qiu<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/xiaoling-zhang-md-phd-ms\/\">Dr. Xiaoling Zhang<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Aim:<\/em> Investigate the interaction of genetic risk factors with chronic peripheral inflammation on AD risk. Identify blood biomarkers correlated with peripheral and brain inflammation, assessing longitudinal cognitive changes and brain atrophy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project 3: Genetic and Protein Alterations of Complement-related Genes and Glial Cell Phenotypes<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Leaders:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/thor-stein-md-phd\/\">Dr. Thor Stein<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/fhs-bap\/profile\/gyungah-r-jun-phd\/\">Dr. Gyungah Jun<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Aim:<\/em> Examine contributions of proteinopathies and white matter changes to cognitive decline.
