Then apply for a <strong>Faculty Development and Diversity Grant!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<table style=\"background-color: #0e3663;\" width=\"115\" height=\"31\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Apply<\/span><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h4>Upcoming Grant Deadlines:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>April 1st, 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Grant applications will be suspended after April 1st 2025 until further notice.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Faculty Development &amp; Diversity Grant Information<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<p><strong>The following conditions would make an application\u00a0MORE\u00a0likely to be favorably reviewed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span><strong>Applicant\u2019s qualifications<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The applicant is qualified and at the appropriate career stage to pursue the proposed opportunity<\/li>\n<li>Ability to articulate how opportunity will enhance applicant\u2019s strategic career objectives<\/li>\n<li>A clear strategic career plan\/roadmap<\/li>\n<li>Has not received a faculty development and diversity grant in the previous two years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><strong>Institutional benefits<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clear description of how the program will enhance institution (more important for senior faculty)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><strong>Section support demonstrated in the following ways:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relief from clinical, educational or administrative duties, i.e. \u201cin kind\u201d support<\/li>\n<li>Subsidizing of training opportunity, i.e. financial support \u2013 typically ~half of the grant (in addition to the funds provided to faculty as discretionary\/GME account)<\/li>\n<li>Unless otherwise discussed with your section chief, a letter of support does not reduce the RVU expectations for your clinical effort<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><strong>Training quality<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evidence that the educational opportunity is of high quality<\/li>\n<li>Training program takes place after the application deadline<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>No other funding resources available<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No other resources are available within the institution to achieve the objectives, such as existing grants, start up packages, etc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Represents a modest amount of monetary support required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Although there are exceptions, the FDGs typically fund proposals that are $1500 to $4000.\u00a0 Proposals that are too financially resource intensive (translation: expensive) severely curtail this program\u2019s ability to benefit a larger number of faculty<\/li>\n<li>Programs with larger budgets are typically funded by the Dean or Department Chair<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Projects beyond the scope of the Faculty Development Program:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct research activities (other DOM programs available)<\/li>\n<li>Sabbaticals<\/li>\n<li>Salary support<\/li>\n<li>Professional society meetings (e.g. SGIM, AHA)<\/li>\n<li>Review courses or application fees for board certification<strong><\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Equipment purchases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/facdev-medicine\/files\/__restricted\/entire-bu-community\/KLupton.FDDC-Grant-proposal.1.20.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sample application<\/a>\u00a0(BU community only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Reimbursement Policy<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>In order to be reimbursed, please contact your Administrative Director and submit through Chrome River.
