The purpose of CELP is to develop a cadre of clinician educators who are able to independently develop and disseminate rigorous educational scholarship, and who have the skills and interest in becoming mentors to others in the areas of education evaluation and scholarship. <strong>7.5% FTE clinical effort forgiveness provided for faculty.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Directors:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.bu.edu\/Hollis.Day\">Hollis Day<\/a><span>, MD, MS, MHPE &amp;\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.bu.edu\/Julia.Aquino\">Julia F. Aquino<\/a><span>, MD.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<i>Applications for FY27 are now closed!<\/i><\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Learning Objectives:<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Participants will be able to identify and independently produce a variety of forms of health education scholarship (based on Boyer\u2019s model of scholarship inclusive of discovery, integration, application, and education: Glassick CE. Boyer&#8217;s expanded definitions of scholarship, the standards for assessing scholarship, and the elusiveness of the scholarship of teaching. <em>Acad Med<\/em>. 2000;75:877-80. PMID 10995607.)<\/li>\n<li>Participants will have robust protocols for conducting literature searches, developing curricula, including identifying and implementing key theoretical models, and ensuring that all educational practices are congruent with current adult learning theory.<\/li>\n<li>Participants will be equipped to independently develop and submit health professions education scholarship for publication (e.g., MedEdPORTAL, academic journals) and to mentor others on this process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Target Participants<\/strong>:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>4-6 BU Medical Group Clinician Educators (CEs)<\/li>\n<li>Assistant Professor (&gt;1 year) and Associate Professors<\/li>\n<li>At Chobanian &amp; Avedisian SOM for \u22653 years<\/li>\n<li>CEs who have:\n<ul>\n<li>Implemented a program or curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Have published at least one medical education paper (including MedEd Portal)<\/li>\n<li>Would benefit from rigorous accountability and support to evaluate and publish their program\/curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Must apply with readiness to implement education intervention<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Commitment:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Meet with Program Facilitator, 4X throughout the year<\/li>\n<li>Meet with Project Mentor 1x a month throughout the year<\/li>\n<li>0.075 FTE clinical effort forgiveness provided<\/li>\n<li>CELP runs 10 sessions from September to June, Thursdays from 8 am-10 am<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>FY27 Dates:<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 September 3rd, 2026 (orientation)<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 October 8th, 2026<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 November 5th, 2026<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 December 3rd, 2026<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 January 7th, 2027<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 February 4th, 2027<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 March 4th, 2027<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 April 1st, 2027<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 April 29th, 2027<\/p>\n<p>10.\u00a0 June 3rd, 2027 (presentation of projects)<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Program Components<\/strong>:<\/h5>\n<p>The components of the program include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Experiential seminars.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Senior faculty members and leaders from BUMC and beyond engage with participants around key determinants for effective leadership and educational scholarship, with a special focus on topics identified as areas of particular interest to CEs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peer<\/strong> <strong>Review<\/strong>.\u00a0 Part of the sessions will include peer review and accountability for progress on program evaluation and manuscript drafts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Final Project Goal.<\/strong> Participants commit to completing a project that will advance their professional careers during the course of the academic year<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project<\/strong> <strong>Mentoring<\/strong>: Participants will receive project mentoring from faculty outside of their departments on their project.
