General Information
General Information
The Combined Boston University-VA Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition fellowship is an ACGME-accredited fellowship program located at Boston Medical Center and the VA Boston Healthcare System. Clinical time is spent at both hospitals, and research may be conducted at either institution. The program includes the ACGME required 2 year experience in clinical endocrinology.
Upon completing the 2-year experience, fellows may become eligible to sit for the ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine) endocrinology board certification exam.
A 3rd year of fellowship is encouraged for fellows pursuing research projects leading toward academic medical careers. The program maintains an NIH training grant to support fellows during the 3rd year. BUMC also maintains a separate 1-year nutrition fellowship and the VA maintains research fellowships as alternative 3rd year tracks.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Satisfactory completion of an ACGME-accredited 3-year internal medicine residency program.
2. Satisfactory completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination Parts I, II, and III.
