Dr. Lisa Y. Shen is a board-certified pediatric dermatologist and serves as the Residency Program Director and Vice Chair for Education at the Boston University Department of Dermatology.\u00a0 She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from University of Wisconsin where she was inducted into both the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.\u00a0 She completed her dermatology residency and pediatric dermatology fellowship at Northwestern University under the mentorship of numerous leaders in pediatric dermatology.\u00a0 Her clinical and research interests include pediatric hidradenitis suppurativa, acne, atopic dermatitis, and the intersection of pediatric dermatology and behavioral health.\u00a0 She is passionate about addressing the psychosocial effects of skin disease and co-founded the multidisciplinary pediatric dermatology behavioral health clinic (aka Coping Clinic) at Boston Medical Center.\u00a0 As Residency Program Director, she is committed to creating a well-rounded dermatology program that is regularly adapting to the constantly changing fields of medical education and dermatology.\u00a0 She is a member of the Association of Professors in Dermatology\u2019s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Task Force and strives to promote and teach culturally sensitive care for our diverse patient population.\u00a0 As a council member for the New England Dermatological Society, she contributes to the planning of regional educational conferences for dermatologists and dermatology trainees. She has also contributed to educational materials through the American Academy of Dermatology Basic Dermatology Curriculum Work Group.\u00a0 She is committed to advocacy for her patients as a current member and prior chair of the Society of Pediatric Dermatology\u2019s Patient and Practice Advocacy Committee.
