Biography<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Dr. Tsui\u2019s current research is concerned with understanding the relationship between two common sequelae of injection drug use: chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and pain.\u00a0 Her currently funded research examines the relationship between HCV, chronic inflammation and pain sensitivity among opioid dependent patients.\u00a0 Future research goals are to elucidate mechanisms that lead to chronic pain in patients with substance use. Prior research has explored associations between HCV and other non-hepatic conditions (chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, quality of life, etc.).\u00a0 In addition, she is interested in HCV-related health care disparities, and interventions\/systems to improve access to care and health behaviors in substance users with HCV.\u00a0 She is a licensed buprenorphine provider and provides integrated HCV care for patients with opioid dependence within the primary care setting.<\/p>\n
