IMPACT\u00a0(Investigating and  Measuring Progression to AIDS in a Cohort Trial), is to begin to  investigate the relationship between drug abuse and HIV disease  progression by utilizing a current 7\/01\/05-6\/30\/09<\/p>\n<p>NIDA<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natural History of Hepatitis C Infection in HIV Disease<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The goal of this study is to identify strategies to prevent the  adverse outcomes associated with HIV and HCV co-infection among IDUs.\u00a0  The study will assess the independent effects of HIV infection,  race\/ethnicity, CD4 count, HIV viral load, and ART on clinical  progression of liver disease and liver related mortality in HIV\/HCV  co-infected IDUs.\u00a0\u00a0 It will also examine the relationship between  serologic markers of hepatic fibrosis and clinical
