{"id":97968,"date":"2021-10-05T15:42:09","date_gmt":"2021-10-05T19:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/?p=97968"},"modified":"2021-10-07T15:20:29","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T19:20:29","slug":"tejumola-adegoke-md-named-inaugural-mace-fellow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/2021\/10\/05\/tejumola-adegoke-md-named-inaugural-mace-fellow\/","title":{"rendered":"Tejumola Adegoke Named Inaugural MACE Fellow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2021\/10\/tejumola-m-adegoke-profile-925bb12a-e1633462814112.jpg\" alt=\"Headshot of Dr. Adegoke\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-97972\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Tejumola Adegoke, MD, assistant professor of obstetrics &amp; gynecology, has been named an inaugural MACE Fellow by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themacefoundation.org\/\">Maternal Adverse Childhood Experiences<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themacefoundation.org\/\">(MACE) Foundation <\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Adegoke, who also serves as an obstetrics &amp; gynecology physician and director of equity and inclusion at Boston Medical Center (BMC), leads the <strong>RESTORE (Reproductive Sexual Gynecologic Health Community Partnership) <\/strong>project that seeks to amplify the criticality of including the voices of communities of color in patient and community research priorities on maternal health inequities by establishing a permanent patient advisory board for the Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology BMC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis compendium of priorities will form the agenda for continued community-based participatory research with the Boston community. [Also,] this project will inform advocacy efforts to improve maternal health care provision at the local and state level and will be disseminated to other institutions to guide future research and quality improvement to address maternal health inequities,\u201d said Adegoke.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Foundation named <span>BU Sargent <\/span><span>College of Health &amp; Rehabilitation Sciences <\/span>Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/professor-leanne-yinusa-nyahkoon-named-inaugural-mace-fellow\">Leanne Yinusa-Nyahkoon<\/a> a Mace Fellow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MACE Foundation is confident the projects of these fellows will yield positive and transformative results in the development of strategies, solutions and policies in prevention and intervention that mitigate the disproportionate maternal mortality rates for Black women,\u201d said Dr. Sharon W.
