James McKnight, PhD, is October\u2019s Distinguished Faculty of the Month.<\/p>\n<p>Now an associate professor of physiology and biophysics, McKnight joined the BUSM community in 1995. He received a BS in chemistry from Washington College, Chestertown, Md.; master\u2019s in chemistry &amp; biochemistry from the University of Delaware; and PhD in biochemistry from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at MIT.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to teaching multiple classes on campus, McKnight is a structural biologist who directs the BUSM Core Facility for Structral NMR Spectroscopy. He also serves as co-course director of Foundations in Biomedical Sciences in the PhD curriculum. He was instrumental in designing the original curriculum as well as the most recent revision, now in its second year of the redesign.<\/p>\n<p>He chairs the GMS Committee on Academic Standards and the Program in Biomedical Sciences Admissions Committee.
