While Match Day happens on the same day, at the same time every year at medical schools across the country, the anticipation and excitement was fresh and infectious. With the countdown complete and cameras flashing, these doctors-in-waiting learned of their residency placements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a short three and a half years ago that the faculty welcomed you to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/2013\/03\/18\/from-new-hampshire-to-hawaii-and-canada-to-texas-class-of-2013-match-for-postgraduate-training\/match_day_2013_lb_-044\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3680\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2013\/03\/match_day_2013_LB_-044-e1363637688379.jpg\" alt=\"match_day_2013_LB_ 044\" title=\"match_day_2013_LB_ 044\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3680\" width=\"200\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a> study of medicine at the White Coat Ceremony, and we look forward to welcoming you to the practice of medicine at commencement,\u201d said Dean Karen Antman. \u201cYou have matched from New Hampshire to Hawaii and Canada to Texas, and the good news is that we get to keep 15 of you here at Boston Medical Center. Congratulations on all of your hard work and achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/2013\/03\/18\/from-new-hampshire-to-hawaii-and-canada-to-texas-class-of-2013-match-for-postgraduate-training\/match_day_2013_-web-041-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3678\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2013\/03\/match_day_2013_-web-0411.jpg\" alt=\"match_day_2013_ web 041\" title=\"match_day_2013_ web 041\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3678\" width=\"200\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a>Twenty-three percent of the class will be entering internal medicine residency, 11 percent in family medicine, and 10 percent each in pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology. Nine percent of the class will be training in emergency medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Jackson, MD, acting for the first time in her capacity as associate dean for student affairs at a Match Day, told the class what a privilege it is to share such an important event in their lives.
