Nothing appears to be the matter, until the family convinces them to stay the night. The short story deals with themes of empathy, doctor-patient relationships and appearance versus reality as Korolyov, the young doctor, visits with an anxious Liza.<\/p>\n<p>The play was adapted for stage by Guy Frederick Glass, and directed by Anna Bortnick (CFA \u201918, Medical Humanities Fellow).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67473\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67473\" style=\"width: 504px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_7922-e1551363708967-636x442.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"494\" height=\"343\" class=\"wp-image-67473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_7922-e1551363708967-636x442.jpg 636w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_7922-e1551363708967-768x534.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2019\/02\/IMG_7922-e1551363708967-1024x711.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 494px) 100vw, 494px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67473\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students performing in Bakst Auditorium<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMy favorite part of this reading was working with the cast to understand the intentions and emotional lives of the characters they were portraying. For many, this was their first time engaging in a theatrical text this way. I was moved by the students\u2019 generosity and thoughtfulness as storytellers,\u201d said Ms. Bortnick.<\/p>\n<p>The medical student cast included Preston Butler, &#8217;22; Tiffany Chan, &#8217;22; Masis Parunyan, &#8217;22; Tyler Ryan, &#8217;21; Anna Whitham, &#8217;22, and Rebecca Zheng, &#8217;22. Robert M.
