Costello, PhD as an ACS Fellow during the Society\u2019s recent national meeting in Denver. Dr. Costello joins more than 200 distinguished scientists in receiving this honor. Selection is based on outstanding accomplishments in chemistry and important contributions to ACS, the world\u2019s largest scientific society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cACS is especially proud to honor these chemists during the 2011 International Year of Chemistry,\u201d said ACS President Nancy B. Jackson, PhD  \u201cThe work they are doing will improve all of our lives as they unleash the power of chemistry to solve global challenges like providing clean water, sufficient food, new energy sources and cures for disease.  But that\u2019s not all. They\u2019re also organizing scientific conferences for their peers, doing outreach with scouts and schools, and being mentors to the next generation of scientists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ACS Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors in December 2008 \u201cto recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to Science, the Profession, and the Society.\u201d Fellows come from academe, industry and government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The American Chemical Society (ACS) inducted BUSM Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Mass Spectrometry Resource Catherine E.
