It\u2019s hard to miss the new exterior being installed over the steel frame.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This gallery of pictures represents a glimpse of the work currently underway.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/07\/IMG_0736-web1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1573\" title=\"IMG_0736 web\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/07\/IMG_0736-web1.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0736 web\" width=\"300\" height=\"383\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The material being installed is called precast. Precast is cement-based. It is part of the skin of the building and is part of the facade. Brick will also be introduced later in the construction process.  Three elements, precast, brick and glass, work together to form the architectural identity of the building.<\/p>\n<p>The initiation of precast work is a significant milestone in the construction process as it signals the initiation of the work that protects the interior space from outside elements.  As of Friday, July 8, it is approximately 10 percent complete.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/07\/0735-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1569\" title=\"0735 web\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/07\/0735-web.jpg\" alt=\"0735 web\" width=\"300\" height=\"357\" \/><\/a><a href=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/07\/IMG_0094-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1570\" title=\"IMG_0094 web\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/07\/IMG_0094-web.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0094 web\" width=\"300\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The nine-story, $40 million structure is designed by Beacon Architectural Associates with a brick and limestone fa\u00e7ade. Its 104 two-bedroom suites that include bath, kitchenette and living spaces will accommodate 208 students, each with individual bedrooms, the standard for graduate student housing.
