Wolozin\u2019s term will begin July 1 and continue until June 30, 2013.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1319\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1319\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/04\/Wolozin-B-sized-for-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1319\" title=\"Wolozin B sized for web\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2011\/04\/Wolozin-B-sized-for-web.jpg\" alt=\"Benjamin Wolozin\" width=\"200\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1319\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Benjamin Wolozin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The NIH selects members to serve on the CMND study section based on their demonstrated competence and achievement in a scientific discipline as evidenced by scientific activities, achievements and honors including quality research findings and publications in journals. The selection provides members with a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort by reviewing grant applications, making recommendations based on them and surveying the status of research in their fields of science.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticipating on study sections is an important element of being a \u2018citizen\u2019 of the scientific community,\u201d said Wolozin. \u201cI have participated on study sections since I became a professor in the 1990s. My current appointment to the CMND study section represents a continuation of this process, and reflects my deep commitment to the scientific community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wolozin joined BUSM\u2019s Department of Pharmacology in 2004 and now holds an adjunct position in the Department of Neurology.  His primary research interests focus on the pathophysiology of Alzheimer\u2019s and Parkinson\u2019s disease.  He currently serves as the primary investigator for several funded studies and has received numerous awards for his research including the Donald B. Lindsley Prize from the Society of Neuroscience and the A. E.
