Progress continues on the student residence at 815 Albany Street on the Boston University Medical Campus (BUMC). March 1, 2011 is a milestone day!\u00a0 The excavation work is complete and the footings have been poured. The steel for the foundation will be delivered by the end of the day and the setting of the re-bar begins.\u00a0 On Thursday, March 3, the exterior foundation waterproofing begins on the west side moving south.<\/p>\n

The nine-story, $40 million structure is designed by Beacon Architectural Associates with a brick and limestone fa\u00e7ade. Its 104 two-bedroom suites that include bath, kitchenette and living spaces will accommodate 208 students, each with individual bedrooms, the standard for graduate student housing. Walsh Brothers is the contractor for the building, which is expected to take 18 months to complete.<\/p>\n
