Two hundred forty-six potential donors registered and hundreds of dollars were donated to the cause.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_554\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-554\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-554\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2010\/01\/Bob-Witzburg-Bone-Marrow-Drive-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"Bob Witzburg at bone marrow drive.\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-554\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bob Witzburg at bone marrow drive.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;This was an incredible experience and I felt honored to be there and to feel the sense of community we have here at BUSM.  Lorraine and I are grateful beyond words for what you have done\u2014not just for us, but for all the patients and families whose future is dependent on finding a bone marrow match. You have made it possible for 246 of us to make a real contribution and, considering that so many of the new donors are students in their 20s, this is a gift that will &#8216;keep on giving&#8217; for decades to come.  Thank you very much,&#8221; explained Witzburg.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chris Mulcahy, Be the Match recruitment director, the turnout was &#8220;astonishing&#8221; and surpassed the record for the number of donors signed up at an individual session at a school.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who were unable to participate but are still interested in registering please visit www.bethematch.org  then click on &#8220;join the registry&#8221;.
