Salant, MD\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4529\" height=\"210\" width=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4529\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Salant<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><\/strong>David Salant, MD, professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM)\u00a0 has been named as the 2015 recipient of The Donald W. Seldin Award.\u00a0 The Award recognizes excellence in clinical nephrology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Donald Seldin is one of the giants of Nephrology and his legacy is reflected in the successes of many of his former trainees that have gone on to become leaders themselves,\u201d said Salant. \u201cReceiving the Seldin Award is a singular honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Salant, who also serves as chief, Section of Nephrology at Boston Medical Center, is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has conducted extensive research on immune disorders of the kidneys. \u201cMy research has focused on how the kidneys are damaged when our own immune system goes awry and makes antibodies that attack critical components of the kidneys,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Salant will receive the award at the National Kidney Foundation\u2019s (NKF) Spring Clinical Meetings held March 25-29 in Dallas, Texas.
