{"id":56849,"date":"2018-04-13T07:59:43","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T11:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/?p=56849"},"modified":"2018-04-13T07:59:43","modified_gmt":"2018-04-13T11:59:43","slug":"busm-students-present-at-new-england-science-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/2018\/04\/13\/busm-students-present-at-new-england-science-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"BUSM Students Present at New England Science Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five students from BUSM\u2019s <span>Master of Arts in Medical Science Program (<\/span>MAMS) recently presented at the New England Science Symposium (NESS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leighanne Ormston<\/strong> (below) placed third in the 2018 Ruth and William Silen, MD, Award for the Microbiology, Immunology, Genetics, or Molecular Biology Category for her poster presentation <em>Investigating the Impact of Glutamatergic Genes on Hippocampal Structure across the Psychosis Spectrum.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2018\/04\/ormston-636x477.jpg\" alt=\"COM-ormston\" width=\"460\" height=\"345\" class=\"wp-image-56850 aligncenter\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2018\/04\/ormston-636x477.jpg 636w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2018\/04\/ormston-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2018\/04\/ormston-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The other student presenters were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kiranpreet Dhaliwal<\/strong>, <em>Neurobiological Correlates of Soft Neurological Signs in Neuroleptic- Naive First Episode Psychosis<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>George Ling<\/strong>, <em>Social Cognitive Ability Reflected in Individual Brain Network Topology<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Simon Archambault<\/strong>, <em>Investigating the Impact of Social Media on Awareness and Prevention of Diabetic Retinopathy in Young Adults: A Case Study; <\/em>and<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anna Williams<\/strong>, <em>Correlates of Completion Rate and Question Comprehension for a Multi-Ethnicity Online Study of Ovulation and Menstruation Health.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Albert Mondragon\u2019s poster <em>Lysosome Machinery is Utilized by Cells to Induce Cell Death Non-Autonomously<\/em> was selected for an oral presentation at the symposium.
