The R01 is the original and historically oldest grant mechanism used to provide support for health-related research and development based on the mission of the National Institutes of Health. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The five-year $2.7 million grant will be used to study ways in which anti-retrovirals that target the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be delivered directly to lymphatic tissues.<\/p>\n<p>Secondary lymphatic tissues control the quality of immune responses and are the predominant sites of HIV-1 replication.
