He and his colleagues will determine where inflammation begins and how it spreads throughout the brain, specifically exploring how inflammation affects the spread of tau and beta-amyloid, two dementia-related proteins in AD and CTE brains. Their findings ultimately could help provide treatments for a number of neurodegenerative diseases that involve neuroinflammation.<\/p>\n<p>The Alzheimer\u2019s Association is the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer\u2019s research in the world, having awarded more than $375 million to more than 2,400 scientific investigations.
