{"id":36690,"date":"2016-08-03T12:30:12","date_gmt":"2016-08-03T16:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/?p=36690"},"modified":"2016-08-03T12:30:12","modified_gmt":"2016-08-03T16:30:12","slug":"bumc-diversity-advisory-group-established","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/2016\/08\/03\/bumc-diversity-advisory-group-established\/","title":{"rendered":"BUMC Diversity Advisory Group Established"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Diversity Advisory Group has been established on the Medical Campus.\u00a0 The group, conceived by Rafael Ortega, MD, BUSM Associate Dean for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, includes members from the Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Public Health as well as Boston Medical Center.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36686\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36686\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2016\/08\/DSC03400-e1470241505817.jpg\" alt=\"Inaugural meeting of the BUMC Diversity Advisory Group\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36686\" height=\"323\" width=\"650\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36686\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Inaugural meeting of the BUMC Diversity Advisory Group<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Group will serve as a bi-directional communication channel between the Offices of Diversity in the three schools and the hospital, and the respective diversity-related domains. It will be a sounding board to discuss diversity-related matters on Campus, and to provide balanced guidance.<\/p>\n<p>The creation of the Group is in concert with BUSM\u2019s strategic planning goals. Several student organizations are represented, including the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), the National Medical Student Association (NMSA), and the Muslim Student Organization respectively representing Hispanic, Black and Muslim students.
