Anna DePold Hohler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Anna DePold Hohler, MD, FAAN, associate professor of Neurology, has been appointed Director of the Center for Military and Post Deployment Health<\/a> at Boston University\u2019s Medical Campus.<\/p>\n

Created to coordinate programming on military medical issues affecting veterans and service members, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury, the Center will build on the work of the Joining Forces conference held annually at BUSM, including the development of an interdisciplinary research center.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hohler\u2019s research interests include symptomatic predictors of Parkinson\u2019s disease, novel medication and surgical therapies for patients with Parkinson\u2019s disease, and autonomic research in Parkinson\u2019s disease and related disorders. Dr. Hohler also is actively involved in research on quality improvement, neurology education, and abuse and violence and its impact on neurology patients.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hohler, the Assistant Dean of Clinical and Strategic Affiliations in the Office of Academic Affairs, also identifies, establishes and maintains clinical education opportunities for third-year medical students and supports other educational, clinical and research collaborations.\u00a0She directs the BUSM Kaiser Branch Campus.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hohler received her BA and MD in the Boston University Seven-Year Accelerated Medical Program on an ROTC scholarship. She then entered the United States Army, completed a neurology internship and residency at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) in Tacoma, Wash., where she subsequently served as chief of the Neurology Clinic and as the Neurology Residency Program Director, eventually reaching the rank of Major.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hohler is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Army Achievement and Commendation Medals and two Meritorious Service Medals for excellence in clinical and teaching skills while serving on active duty. She also received BUSM\u2019s prestigious Stanley L. Robbins Award for Excellence in Teaching and several Neurology teaching awards, including two from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). She co-chairs the AAN Patient Safety Subcommittee and is past president of the Massachusetts Neurological Association.<\/p>\n
