More than 150 first-year BUSM students attended the event held Monday, Aug. 17 in Hiebert Lounge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2015\/08\/COM-BUSM-Activity-Fair-1-e1439842176254.jpg\" alt=\"COM BUSM Activity Fair 1\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23192\" height=\"506\" width=\"650\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fifty-four student activities and organizations, ranging from the American Heart Association to the Women\u2019s Health Initiative participated in the fair, which was coordinated by the BUSM Office of Student Affairs (OSA) <span>under the direction of Angela Jackson, MD, associate dean of Student Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis activity fair exposes us to so many new opportunities on campus,\u201d said Rachita Gupta, BUSM \u201919. \u201cFrom academic-based organizations to health and wellness activities, this event covers it all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that participation in student activities is complimentary to the academic curriculum,\u201d said John Polk, MD, EdM, assistant dean OSA. \u201cStudents can develop skills useful in healthcare such as leadership, collaboration, communication, and critical and creative thinking.
