Hosted by the Department of Medical Sciences and Education, it was held on May 20.\u00a0 This was the 10<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the annual event that showcases academic innovation and teaching ideologies. The theme of the day was \u201cTeaching Professional Competencies,\u201d and it covered a variety of topics relating to how educators can improve and reevaluate teaching models.<\/p>\n<p>The day-long event included five workshops and a poster session displaying nearly 50 abstracts. The keynote address \u201cChanging Culture: Upending Our Notions of Professionalism,\u201d was given by Jo Shapiro, MD, FACS, associate professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School. She shared her particular interest in professionalism and peer support programs.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20697\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20697\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2015\/07\/Med-Education-Day-2.jpg\" alt=\"Poster session discussion.\" width=\"710\" height=\"462\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20697\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2015\/07\/Med-Education-Day-2.jpg 710w, https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/files\/2015\/07\/Med-Education-Day-2-636x414.jpg 636w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20697\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Poster session discussion.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dr. McCahan attended and remarked on the history of this event and was honored for his outstanding commitment to medical education. In addition, past chairs of the planning committee, Drs.
