This summer, BUSM MD candidate, Adam Johnson (MED 18)<\/a>, partnered with Boston Area Health Education Center <\/strong>to create and launch the inaugural \u00a0Summer Medical Exposure Bootcamp (SMEB) <\/strong>on the medical campus for underrepresented minority high school students from Boston.<\/p>\n

Beginning in July and running six weeks, URM students were exposed to a wide range of medical topics by key BUMC physician faculty volunteers, many of whom are black or Latino. At the conclusion of the Bootcamp, students from other Boston-area summer science programs convened on the medical campus for a day-long poster session, awards ceremony and celebration.<\/p>\n
