{"id":113333,"date":"2023-06-01T11:02:20","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T15:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/?p=113333"},"modified":"2023-06-01T11:02:20","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T15:02:20","slug":"katelyn-bird-md-named-junes-distinguished-faculty-of-the-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/camed\/2023\/06\/01\/katelyn-bird-md-named-junes-distinguished-faculty-of-the-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Katelyn Bird, MD, Named June\u2019s Distinguished Faculty of the Month\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2023\/05\/Bird_Katelyn-scaled-e1684182777149.jpg\" alt=\"Head and shoulders shot of Katelyn Bird\" class=\"size-full wp-image-113335 alignright\" width=\"150\" height=\"205\" \/>The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.bu.edu\/Katelyn.Bird\">Katelyn Bird<\/a>, MD, assistant professor of neurology, has been named Distinguished Faculty of the Month for June.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A member of our community since June 2015, Bird received her MD from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed an internship in internal medicine, residency in neurology, and fellowship in movement disorders at Boston Medical Center. She was neurology chief resident from 2018-19.\u00a0 She joined the faculty in September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Her nominators say Katelyn \u201chas been passionate about teaching since her residency at BMC and she continues to be a devoted teacher as a faculty member.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Katelyn\u2019s students say she \u201cis an amazing instructor who is fun to be around yet continually challenges us and drops knowledge like no one&#8217;s business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking with Dr. Bird was a highlight of my neurology rotation. She gave me autonomy with patients and I was also able to observe her counseling patients \u2013 a hard balance to strike! After my day working with her, I felt like I had improved my history taking, physical exam skills, and note writing.
