Below is a list of steps to follow before leaving on holiday break.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Office Spaces &amp; Labs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Close windows.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off all electrical equipment i.e. computers, monitor, lights, any portable heaters, copiers, printers, coffee pots, and lamps.<\/li>\n<li>Lock all doors that can be secured; close any propped doors.<\/li>\n<li>Contact the Control Center regarding any special conditions that may need to be monitored (email: <a href=\"mailto:CPO-FMO-BUMC-CONTROL-CENTER@bu.edu\">CPO-FMO-BUMC-CONTROL-CENTER@bu.edu<\/a> or call 617-358-4144).<\/li>\n<li>Remove all holiday decorations.<\/li>\n<li>Check all your lab equipment status before leaving and add contact information on -80 and incubators in case an event occurs.<\/li>\n<li>Power down all\u00a0non-essential lab equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off all sterilizers.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerators \u2013 Adjust the setting to 1 or 3 to keep the compressor from cycling on and off.\u00a0If possible, empty the refrigerator and turn the unit off.\u00a0If refrigerator is turned off, place a bucket inside to catch water when the ice melts and put some absorbent pads under the refrigerator to catch any water, which might get past the gasket.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Building Access:<\/strong> Entrance will be by card access only.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Voicemail: <\/strong>Please program and record an extended absence greeting to alert callers you are not available.\u00a0If applicable, add directions for your patients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Email:<\/strong> Please post an \u201cOut of Office\u201d message.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mail Services:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Internal Mail will be suspended; normal operations resume Jan. 3, 2023.<\/li>\n<li>UPS-FedEx-Amazon: Mail Services will\u00a0contact carriers\u00a0to inform them BUMC is not open for deliveries.<\/li>\n<li>For those who are on campus and wish to collect mail for their department, mail pick-ups may be made on Wednesday, Dec. 28, and Friday, Dec. 30, between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at\u00a0<strong>University Mail Services located at 120 Ashford Street, Room 163<\/strong>. Individuals must show a valid BU ID card.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On\u00a0<strong>Monday, Jan. 2, 2023,<\/strong>\u00a0all adjustments to the buildings air handlers and hot water systems should return to their normal settings to ensure everyone who returns on Tuesday, Jan. 3, enters into a normal working climate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for your assistance.
