\"HeadshotThe Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Natalie Pierre Joseph, MD, MPH, is June\u2019s Distinguished Faculty of the Month.<\/p>\n

The clinical associate professor of pediatrics and adolescent medicine received her BA in chemistry from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn; her MD and an MPH in maternal child health from New York Medical College. She completed her intership and residency in pediatrics from Children\u2019s National Medical Center, Washington, DC, and Schneider\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital\/Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY; and a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Boston Chilren\u2019s Hospital and Boston Medical Center (BMC).<\/p>\n

Joseph joined the BUSM community as an assistant professor in 2001. She serves as medical director of BMC\u2019s Teen and Tot Program. Her research focuses on HPV vaccine initiation among low-icome and minority women in public health-care settings.<\/p>\n

Her nomininators say, \u201cDr. Joseph dedicates her career toward caring and advocating for pregnant and parenting adolescents. Her dedication and love for this vulnerable population is unmatched; she constantly brainstorms ideas and works to implement practices and strategies to increase health-care access, high-quality care and education delivery to these patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nomination states, \u201cShe explains pediatric and reproductive health principles very clearly, and never makes a student feel embarrassed or incompetent for asking questions.\u00a0 She welcomes any and all questions, answering each one with enthusiasm. She also always asks students what they would like to learn, and tailors her teaching to mend student goals with her learning objectives.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Joseph is one of the kindest teachers and mentors at BUSM.\u201d<\/p>\n
