Harris, PhD, associate pr<span>of<\/span>essor<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>of<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>medicine, director<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>of<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>faculty development and diversity for<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>the<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>Department<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>of <\/span>Medicine and BUMC director<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>of<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>faculty development, has been appointed<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>ad interim<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>associate<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>dean<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>for diversity &amp; inclusion, effective May 1, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Harris has designed, implemented and led innovative programs that provide and promote more equitable learning and working environments for faculty, staff and students around issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and justice. A medical sociologist, Dr. Harris\u2019s research includes race and ethnicity, gender and sexualities, health and illness, social movements, cultural studies, urban studies and media studies. More specifically, examining how groups construct health issues and how the structural marginalization and stigmatization they experience impact their experiences with health care.
