\"Instructional<\/a>Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) ranks No. 32 in research and No. 36 in primary care in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report <\/em>rankings of the nation\u2019s best graduate schools, announced today.<\/p>\n

BUSM was tied at 32 in the research category with Oregon Health and Science University and the University of Alabama-Birmingham and ahead of Brown\u2019s Warren Alpert Medical School (35), Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY (37), University of Massachusetts Medical School and Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine (tied at 47) and Tufts School of Medicine (56).<\/p>\n

In addition, two clinical departments were ranked among the top programs in their specialties\u2013Family Medicine at No. 18 and Pediatrics at No. 21.<\/p>\n

The research ranking is based, in part, on the dollar value of grants awarded to the school by the National Institutes of Health. The primary care rank considers the proportion of a school\u2019s graduates entering residencies in family medicine, pediatrics and internal medicine \u2013 meaning that the rank in this category varies with the percentage of students in each graduating class pursuing those fields.<\/p>\n

The specialty rankings are based solely on ratings by medical school deans and senior faculty from the 192 fully accredited medical schools and schools of osteopathic medicine provided the data needed to calculate the research and primary care rankings.<\/p>\n
