Do you remember what motivated you to make your first gift to BUSM?<\/strong>
\nI was motivated to make my first gift to BUSM when I was doing my PGY-1 year in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. As I went through my first year of training, it did not take me long to realize how well prepared I was for my internship and residency training program due to one and only one thing…the education and clinical training I received during my four years of medical school at BUSM. I have made a donation to BUSM every single year without missing a single once since my graduation in 1985.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why do you continue to give to BUSM?<\/strong>
\nI continue to give to BUSM to support the innovations that are needed, the technology updates and upkeep that are required to stay current and to do my part to keep BUSM on the cutting edge in the areas of medical education, training of students and residents and in research endeavors. I was so impressed by what the medical school has done for the students since I left in 1985 and after one sees all the changes that have occurred for the positive, it makes it a very simple decision to support all of the efforts that BUSM is involved in.<\/span><\/p>\n

What would you tell current students about the importance of giving back to BUSM?<\/strong>
\nDon’t ever forget where you came from and what BUSM has given you. Every little bit counts. Start slowly but remain steady and loyal in your commitment to BUSM<\/span><\/p>\n

Fond memory of BUSM:<\/strong>
\n1) Getting to work with Dr. William McNary during my pre-clinical years at BUSM. A true legend and gifted medical educator. <\/span><\/p>\n

2) Being inducted into the BUSM Chapter of AOA in 1985. <\/span><\/p>\n

3) Graduation day (May 1985) and winning an award for excellence in Internal Medicine<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite professor or course at BUSM:<\/strong>
\nTwo favorites: Simmons Lessell, Ophthalmology at UH; Joel Caslowitz, Internal Medicine at the Jamaica Plain’s VA. Role models for sure and brilliant physicians.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Other anecdotes\/comments:<\/b>
\nI was selected as a member of the third class of MMEDIC students (selected in 1979 for matriculation into BUSM in 1981). I was so honored that I was given the opportunity to be a part of this new and innovative program in medical education that was pioneered by BUSM in 1977.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
