A family doc from my Monadnock region in New Hampshire had also given me a scholarship, for choosing family medicine, and I appreciated her giving back to BUSM<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why do you continue to give to BUSM?\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am so grateful for the efforts of all of the professors to share their brains and hearts and to start the very long process of evolution to caring high-quality physician. I had no money but was great at applying for financial aid. My dad was a math professor, and I recognized the importance of and the expenses of universities in fulfilling their mission to educate<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What would you tell current students about the importance of giving back to BUSM?\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear lifelong friends from BU provided crucial peer group support through the many years of schooling, and I consider BU family, so I support it as I would, and have, my parents or children. BU has been key as a catalyst to a very full rewarding life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fond memory of BUSM:\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Watching the installation of the stone sculptures of great men and women in medicine in the lobby. Women gathering at Dr. Leah Lowenstein\u2019s house for bonding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Favorite professor or course at BUSM:\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor Robbins and pathology. Fascinating in a deeper more detailed way than biology, which initially hooked me on a career in medicine. Loved his textbooks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other anecdotes\/comments:<\/strong>\u00a0Also loved skit nights, and one dental student singing \u201cTooth of Gold,\u201d to the tune of Neil Young\u2019s Heart of Gold.
