Favorite professor at BUSM:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Dr. Edward Spatz was chair of neurosurgery when I was a medical student. He took time to meet with me and advise me on my choice of specialty. He advised me where to do sub-i rotations. He was a true gentleman– always calm and collected and supportive. He made time for students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Academic appointment:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Currently I\u2019m the Professor and Vice Chairman of UCSF Neurosurgery. I also serve as the Director of the Cervical Spine Program, Director of the Minimally Invasive Spine Program, Director of the Minimally Invasive and Complex Spine Fellowship Program, Co-Director of the UCSF Spine Center, and Vice-Chair of the UCSF Department of Neurosurgery.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most recent accomplishment: <\/strong>I b<\/span>ecame Joan O’Reilly Endowed Professor of Spinal Surgery at UCSF.<\/span><\/p>\n
