Below are the available funding opportunities along with their respective internal submission deadlines.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h6 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Searle Scholars Program \u2502 July 9, 2026<\/h6><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><a name=\"searlescholar\"><\/a> The <a href=\"https:\/\/searlescholars.org\/application-information\/award-information\/\">Searle Scholars Program<\/a> makes grants to support the independent research of exceptional young faculty in the biomedical sciences and chemistry who have recently begun their appointment at the assistant professor level and whose appointment is their first tenure-track position.<\/p>\n<p>The Searle Scholars Program supports high risk, high reward research across a broad range of scientific disciplines, including biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences. It does not ordinarily support purely clinical research but has supported research programs that include both clinical and basic components. Potential applicants who are unsure if their research is appropriate for the Searle Program are encouraged to examine the research interests of present and former Searle Scholars on the <a href=\"https:\/\/searlescholars.org\/current-scholars\/\">program\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FUNDING INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>$150,000 per year for three years<\/strong> ($450,000 total) beginning on July 1, 2027. For information about use of funds, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/searlescholars.org\/application-information\/award-information\/\">Award Information<\/a> section of the program&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>The Searle Scholars Program does not place any restrictions on funding from other sources of support and is meant to supplement other funding received by an investigator.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants are expected to be pursuing independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should have begun their appointment as an independent investigator at the assistant professor level on or after May 1, 2025. All information in this announcement is subject to change.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ritaallen.org\/scholars\/\">Rita Allen Foundation Scholars (RAFS) Program<\/a> funds basic biomedical research in the fields of cancer, immunology, and neuroscience. By investing in early-career biomedical scholars and their research, RAFS aims to advance transformative ideas and leverage them to promote breakthrough solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Past Rita Allen Scholars have gone on to make fundamental contributions to their fields of study and have won recognition including the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, the National Medal of Science, the Wolf Prize in Medicine, the Lasker-Koshland Award for Special Achievement in Medical Science, and the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FUNDING INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Up to $110,000 per year for a maximum of five years ($550,000 total).<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, the candidate must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have completed their training in one of the following relevant fields: cancer, immunology, neuroscience or pain.<\/li>\n<li>Be independent investigators in the early stages of their careers and research, preferably within the first three years of their tenure track appointment.<\/li>\n<li>Senior postdocs and associate professors are less likely to be selected as candidates.<\/li>\n<li>Must be employed at a US degree-granting or research institution; citizenship is not a requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rita Allen Foundation Scholars (RAFS) may not accept an award from the following programs that would take effect in year one of their RAFS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beckman Young Investigator Program<\/li>\n<li>Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Searle Scholars Program<\/li>\n<li>Vallee Scholars Program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, RAFS may apply for awards from the listed programs so long as they would take effect beginning in year two of the RAF award.
