Current practice:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>I am the chairman of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH. I recently joined the staff in June of 2016, and was asked to create the role of Chairman, and to create the OB\/Gyn department from scratch. There had not been a separate department at Wentworth Douglass for many years. I have been implementing new programs in women\u2019s health for the Seacoast area of New Hampshire, and we are leading in patient safety initiatives, quality care initiatives, lead the Seacoast in the number of deliveries, and are a Center of Excellence in Gyn Robotic Surgery.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Fond memory of BUSM<\/strong>: My favorite memories of BUSM are two fold: I remember very fondly the Skit Night my first year of school, and was a thespian in several performances that evening. Truly a very special night to remember. I also remember with great fondness the annual bar-b-ques held on the green in front of the school. It was a great time to visit with all my classmates that I did not get to see routinely once we started clinical rotations, and also to visit with the faculty that I developed relationships with over my time spent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Favorite professor or course at BUSM:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>My favorite course and professor was Gross Anatomy with Dr. Hoyt. He was a charismatic professor who truly loved what he did and working with students, and was genuinely vested in making sure we learned all that we could. My biggest influence on my career was Dick A. J. Brown, who was a mentor, teacher of life, and friend. He influenced me in so many ways, and inspired me to provide the best care that I can, to gain knowledge each and every day, and to really care about myself and others.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Hobbies outside of work:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>My hobbies include canine agility competitions, my dog (an Entlebucher) has her first two titles in AKC agility, and we are working towards the advanced levels. I am also an avid photographer, and have had a couple of small showings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recent publications:\u00a0<\/strong>My recent publications are two book chapters: Protocols for High Risk Pregnancies (Spong, K et al, eds) chapter on liver and gallbladder disease in pregnancy; and Obesity and Pregnancy (Silverman R, et al eds) chapter on prenatal diagnosis in obese patients, in press. I teach every year at an OB Gyn Board Review course in Columbus Ohio for Ohio State University, and have gotten several resident teaching awards including at SUNY Buffalo Chief Resident Faculty Excellence Award in 2015 (my last academic appointment before coming to New Hampshire).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
