It also has an advanced point-scan confocal capability for visible and 2-photon excitation.\u00a0 The point scan system\u00a0allows the user to select 3 customizable portions of the emission spectrum and steer each to a separate photomultiplier tube.\u00a0 This instrument can be used for unique experimental challenges such as simultaneous uncaging and high-speed live-cell imaging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Training, Usage and Maintenance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>This instrument will require significant training to understand and use properly.<\/li>\n<li>It is actually the combination of 2 instruments one which is high-speed and uses patterned illumination and the other which is slower and uses scanned point illumination.<\/li>\n<li>People who are not regular users will require an operator assistance.<\/li>\n<li>The slower point scan system also has 2-photon excitation capability.<\/li>\n<li>The use of this instrument will require annual laser safety training.<\/li>\n<li>It will be covered by a service contract, but will require some routine cleaning and alignment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rules for Booking<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"style12\">Each lab can book a maximum of 10 hours of day time use or 15 hours of total use per week on each instrument.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"style12\">This rule does not apply for \u201cNext Day\u201d reservation (booking of time for the coming day).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"style12\">Therefore, frequent users are welcome to fill in the open gaps but they can book these hours only 1 day before the use.<\/span><strong><span class=\"style12\"> <\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>How to Schedule<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Please login to<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bostonu.ilab.agilent.com\/account\/login\">iLab<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/a>system to schedule equipment time or services. What does not get included in the balance sheets are the indirect costs generated from grants obtained with the help of data from our core.
