Continuing students at Boston University are automatically enrolled in one of the following Aetna Student Health Plans, depending on their previous selection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Automatic Enrollment for 2026-2027<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Basic Plan<\/strong>: All continuing students not enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Plus Plan will be automatically enrolled in the Basic Plan, effective August 15, 2026. The Basic Plan provides individual coverage only; spouse or dependent enrollment is not available.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Basic Plan Annual Premium<\/strong>: $4,054<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plus Plan<\/strong>: Continuing students who are already enrolled in the Plus Plan will automatically continue with their current coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Switching to the Plus Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Continuing students who wish to switch to the <strong>Aetna Student Health Plus Plan<\/strong> for the 2026-2027 academic year may do so by sending a request to <a href=\"mailto:insmed@bu.edu\"><strong>insmed@bu.edu<\/strong><\/a> by the open enrollment deadline of <strong>September 20, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Plus Plan Annual Premiums<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Student: $4,054<\/li>\n<li>Spouse: $4,054 (additional charge)<\/li>\n<li>One Child: $4,054 (additional charge)<\/li>\n<li>Two or More Children: $8,108 (additional charge)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetnastudenthealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aetna Student Health Website<\/a><\/span> for more details on coverage options.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Waiver Option<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have comparable health insurance, you may waive the Aetna plan. Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/studentaccountingservices\/resources\/medical-insurance-test\/comparable-coverage-checklist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>Comparable Coverage Checklist<\/span><\/a> to verify eligibility, and look for an email from <strong>Student Accounts<\/strong> regarding waiver procedures.
