Boston University provides the <strong>Aetna Student Health Plan<\/strong> to meet this requirement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Automatic Enrollment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All incoming students are automatically enrolled in the <strong>Aetna Student Basic Individual Plan<\/strong>, with coverage effective August 3, 2026.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Basic Plan<\/strong>: Individual coverage only; no eligibility for spouse or dependent enrollment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Premium<\/strong>: $4,182 annually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To switch to the <strong>Aetna Student Health Plus Plan<\/strong> (allowing dependent coverage), email <a href=\"mailto:insmed@bu.edu\"><strong>insmed@bu.edu<\/strong><\/a> by the open enrollment deadline, September 4, 2026.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Plus Plan<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Student Premium: $4,182 annually.<\/li>\n<li>Spouse: $4,182 (additional).<\/li>\n<li>One Child: $4,182 (additional).<\/li>\n<li>Two or More Children: $8,364 (additional).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetnastudenthealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aetna Student Health Website<\/a><\/span> for more details on both plan options.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Waiver Option<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have a comparable health insurance plan, you may waive the Aetna coverage by September 4, 2026. <strong>Student Accounting Services<\/strong> will email instructions on the waiver process.
