Research Training at Boston University Medical Center<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Biomedical research and the training of future leaders in research is an important mission of Boston University Medical Center. To promote research excellence, new faculty have been recruited, existing research programs have been enhanced, new programs have been started, and modern research facilities have been built to support our scientists. The growth of research on the Boston University Medical Campus has put us in the top twenty U.S. medical schools in total federal funding for research. In 2002 the total of sponsored research funding at our institution topped $140 million.<\/p>\n

BUSM\u00a0has the following Research Centers:<\/h4>\n

The Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute:<\/strong> The Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) on Ischemic Heart Disease in Blacks addresses an important urban medical problem. The SCOR program on hypertension is the longest funded hypertension SCOR in the country \u2013 27 years of continuous funding \u2013 and has contributed greatly to the development of therapies for hypertension, atherosclerosis and heart failure.<\/p>\n
